In the US, white-winged doves occur primarily in the southwest and are characteristic birds of desert regions.   The one below at left was perched in the small town of San Antonio, New Mexico, in late November.   It is molting and is less 'cleanly' plumaged than is typical at other times of the year.   The other doves were photographed near Tucson, Arizona and in southern California.
