It seemed odd to see an oystercatcher 100 km from the ocean, but this species was fairly common in interior Pategonia when we visited Parque Nacional Torres del Paine in south Chile.   I photographed this bird on a gravel bar near a fairly large river. It looks almost exactly like the American oystercatcher familar to birders on the east and Gulf coasts of the US.
