Pacific gulls are one of three relatively common gull species in Australia (the others are the similar kelp gull and the much smaller silver gull).   Aside from its outsized bill, the Pacific gull is a typical dark-backed, white bellied gull with brownish juveniles, similar to other large gulls in the Northern Hemisphere.   They are much harder to find than kelp or silver gulls, and are sparsely distributed along the south coast.   These birds were hanging around fishermen at Two Peoples Bay and Peaceful Bay, near Albany, Western Australia.
