Sharp-tailed sandpipers are Eurasian high-Arctic breeders that winter in tropical and subtropical regions; they are rarities in North America. They are quite similar to the pectoral sandpiper of North America. These photos of wintering birds were taken in north Queensland, Australia, mostly at the Cairns Esplanade. |
