Greylags are the common geese in north-central Europe in late spring, when I took these pictures. Sometimes they form huge flocks, and the species is famous among animal behaviorists because the famous pioneer ethologist Konrad Lorenz studied imprinting in baby greylags (there is series of famous photos of him being followed by small groups of imprinted goslings). These were photographed at Siemianowka Reservoir and near Biebrza National Park, both in eastern Poland. |
