Garganeys are small, elegantly patterned ducks; the males have a clearly visible white stripe in back of the eye. Like many ducks they are shy and hard to approach. The flying birds were near Biebrza National Park in northeastern Poland. The female (?) on water was a very rare winter vagrant to the Salton Sea in southern California (with blue-winged teal in some images). |
