These sandhill cranes were photographed shortly after dusk as they settled in to roost in the 'Crane Pools' along Highway 1, near the northern border of the Bosque refuge. In November of 2012, unusually large numbers of cranes (many hundreds) were using these pools as evening roost sites, and they paid little attention to the dozens of photographers taking advantage of the opportunity. |
