Compared to the considerably larger snow goose, the Ross's goose is almost 'cute': it is petite and has a smaller bill with a 'warty' base -- rather extreme in some of the birds in these photos. Like the snow goose, the Ross's goose has a 'blue' morph but it is extremely rare; we saw none of them at Bosque in 2012, and only one or two in previous visits. |
