This chinstrap penguin wandered through the Adelie penguin colony on Torgersen Island one day, looking a little lost. Chinstraps breed on some nearby islands, but not on Torgersen itself. They are quite agressive and noisy (even for a penguin, which is saying a lot). Torgersen Island is in Arthur Harbor, near the U.S. base at Palmer Station, off the Antarctic Peninsula. |
