White ibis        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The white ibis is extremely common in Florida and other parts of the southeastern US, often feeding on suburban lawns as well as in swamps and marshes.   I took these pictures at Little Estero Lagoon south of Fort Meyers, Florida, at Fort DeSoto Park (the bird with the pipefish), and in Everglades National Park.
