I first saw these interesting birds in the 1980's when I worked in Antarctica, but all the flocks I encountered then were difficult to approach.   Therefore I was happy to find some more cooperative ibis on a recent visit in 2009.   I took most of the photos near Lago Azul in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine in southern Chile; a few were taken close to Puerto Natales.
