Cactus blossoms 4: Mammillaria, Cereus, etc.        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Mammillarias are charming, typically small to tiny cacti with flowers built to scale.   A few of them are native to the American southwest but all on this page are from Mexico, and were growing in the UC Riverside Botanical Garden.   Also in the Gardens were the tall tree-cactus with the flowers shown at the next-to-bottom row and at the very bottom, and two much smaller, pale candelabra cactus blossom at right.   Near the bottom is a picture of saguaro blossoms, with an attendant honeybee.

Other pages show Opuntias, barrel cactus, and Echinocereus flowers.
