Prairie warbler        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Prairie warblers mainly winter in South America, but a few winter in Florida.   They have bright yellow undersides with black streaks on the sides and 'spectacle' facial markings.   These birds were foraging in mangroves at Fort de Soto Park near Tampa, and in Everglades National Park, both in Florida; most of the photos are of a vagrant that showed up in some unpreposessing vacant lots on Cannery Row in Monterey, California in late 2021, and another that was in a park in nearby Marina the following fall.
