Shorebirds of various species often congregate in dense roosting flocks when not feeding. These birds (including western sandpipers, willets, marbled godwits, American avocets, and dowitchers) were at Newport Back Bay, near Newport Beach, California, and the nearby Bolsa Chica wetlands in coastal Orange County, California.
