DIRECTIONS for the UCR econometrics seminar guest speakers

Use FWY 60 (also called FWY 215 because both 60 and 215 are the same, overlapped, in Riverside), and then exit to University Avenue. Turn left to the campus (east of the freeway). (Follow the signs to the UCR campus.) To enter the campus, turn right to West Campus Drive (where you see a big purple Arts building). Once you enter the campus, stop by Information Kiosk for further direction to Sproul Hall. At Information Kiosk, ask the location of Sproul Hall, Parking Lot 6, and get a parking permit (that is pre-arranged for your pick-up under your name). We will have a parking permit waiting for you there. Park your car at Lot 6. (If you have any UC campus parking permit, show it to Information Kiosk to use it -- They may give you a free daily permit to attach to your UC permit.) (Information Kiosk may direct you to a different parking lot, because Lot 6 has some construction.)

Our department is located at the third and fourth floors of Sproul Hall. Sproul Hall is a white colored bldg. It has three wings (South wing, Middle wing, and North wing). We are located in South Wing, which is the highest wing with four stories. The other two wings have only two stories. My office is Room 3103 at South Wing.

Please try to arrive no later than 3 pm to insure against any possible traffic problems. That will also give us a short break for coffee or tea before the seminar. Please let me know the most convenient time for you to arrive here so that we may know when I expect you. The seminar starts from 4:10 pm and ends at 5:30 pm. You are very welcome to come early to have lunch with us.

Directions from UCSD (Coming from the South)

It will take about 100 minutes. Take FWY15North. Near the city of Temacula change to FWY215North. Near Riverside FWY215North merges with FWY60West.

After a few exits past the 215/60 merge, you will find the University Avenue. Exit there. When you come to the bottom of the ramp, turn left at the signal. You are on the University Avenue.

At the next signal where University Ave meets West Campus Dr., turn right into the campus. At the information kiosk, get a parking permit (reserved under your name). Also, ask the location of Sproul Hall and Parking Lot 6. If you have any UC campus parking permit, show it to the information kiosk to use it.

Directions from Ontario Airport (Coming from the West)

You need to find “FWY60 East” from the airport (which is easy because there are many signs). There are several ways to 60 east which you can check at a rental car office. Drive at FWY60 East for about 20 minutes to Riverside.

On the FWY60 East, after a few exits past the 91/60/215 inter-change, you will find the University Avenue. Exit there. When you come to the bottom of the ramp, turn left at the signal. You are on the University Avenue. Pass under the bridge.

At second signal where University Ave meets West Campus Dr., turn right into the campus. At the information kiosk, ask the location of Sproul Hall and Parking Lot 6, and get a parking permit (reserved under your name). If you have any UC campus parking permit, show it to the information kiosk to use it.

Directions from USC and UCLA (Coming from the West)

Coming from LA, you can take either FWY10 or FWY60. (FWY10 splits to FWY10 and FWY60 after passing the LA downtown area.)

If you take FWY60 East to Riverside, it could be easier. (But do not worry if you have missed FWY60.)

If you take FWY10 East to Ontario, then take FWY15 South for 2 miles and then pick up FWY60 East.

Directions from Caltech or from Pasadena (Coming from the West)

Take FWY 210 east, FWY 57 south, HWY 71 south, and then take FWY 60 East. Continue for about 30 minutes to Riverside. (Alternatively, take FWY 210 east, FWY 57 south, FWY 10 east, FWY 15 south, and then take FWY 60 East. Continue for about 15 minutes to Riverside.)

Directions from LAX (LA Airport) (Coming from the West)

It is about 75 miles and takes about 80 minutes under no traffic. However it could take 2-3 hours depending on traffic situation especially after 2 pm during weekdays.

Find FWY105 East from the LAX Airport. Drive FWY105 East for about 20 minutes (about 17 miles?), then take FWY605 South for a couple of miles, and then change to FWY91 East. Stay on FWY91 East for about an hour (about 45 miles?) to Riverside. Then take FWY60 East (which is also FWY215).

Directions from UCI or from Orange County (Coming from the Southwest)

It is about 60 minutes with no traffic. However it could take more depending on traffic situation especially after 2 pm during weekdays.

Take FWY55 north and then FWY91 east to Riverside. Then take FWY60 East (which is also FWY215).

Hotel

If you stay at Mission Inn Hotel, here is the contact info: phone 951-784-0300. It is about 3 miles west from the UCR campus. Mission Inn requires advance reservation, sometimes 3-6 months. If you arrive at ONT and if you do not rent a car, note that free shuttle can be arranged from Mission Inn (between the hotel and ONT).

If Mission Inn is booked up and not available, then your hotel will be Courtyard Marriott Riverside. Courtyard Marriott Riverside is closer to the UCR campus, located less than a mile west from the campus. They do not provide a free shuttle to and from the ONT airport. Phone: (951) 276-1200.
