Welcome to the Riverside Audiovisual Speech and Audition Lab - RASAL. The laboratory is located in the Olmsted Building on the University of California, Riverside campus. Two research programs are conducted at RASAL. Our research on audiovisual speech perception examines integration of auditory and visual speech information, the visual information for lipreading, the relationship between lipreading and face recognition, and inadvertent imitation of speech. Our research on audition examines auditory distance perception, human echolocation, auditory perception of rooms and sound-obstructing objects, and perception of approaching sound sources including hybrid cars.

More details of these projects along with reprints of relevant papers can be found on the projects and publications pages of this site.
