Xenic: "Wet plates": 3-5 drops of E. coli in 4 ml P-buffer (0.05M KH2PO4/K2HPO4
to pH 7.3) on 1% pure agar + 5 mg/ml cholesterol. Can also be kept on dry
plates but moves with much more difficulty and seems to reproduce more
slowly. The cultures appear to contain a bacterium (other than E. coli)
which may be essential for growth and reproduction. Keep at 16-18C.
Long-term storage:
Freezing was not attempted.
Availability:
Freely available on "wet plates".
