COLMAR, France

Colmar is a delightful, beautifully restored Alsazce town with many pedestrian-friendly streets, half-timbered houses, canals and world-renowned museums.  Colmar is the home of the Maison des Tetes (House of Heads), so named for the 111 heads decorating its façade.  It has the prestigious Underlinden Museum, with its major collection of Rheinland sculptures and the Bartholdi Museum, the onetime home of Frederick Auguste Bartholdi, designer of the Statue of Liberty.  [see Photos]
