References to Ogam Script
[Contacts]
Various authors investigating different ancient writings
have referred to them as "Ogam
Script," which has led to some confusion. Probably the most ancient and first true Ogam are the
"Stick Writings" of the West African Igbo culture studied by Catherine
Acholonu. These are a sequence of dots, dashes and
symbols carved onto bamboo. More
recent forms of Ogam were found on petroglyphs, animal bone and other
substrates. Acholonu, Catherine (authority on Igbo translations of Ogam Script).
