71.  Derived from:  Legner, E. F., R. D. Sjogren & J. T. Wiles.  1970.  Effects of low biuret urea on natural populations of Hippelates collusor (Townsend) and Leptoconops kerteszi (Kieffer).  J. Amer. Mosq. Contr. Assoc. 30(4):  634-640.

Summary

Reduction of naturally breeding field populations of Hippelates collusor and Leptoconops kertesi were obtained with granular and spray applications of urea (CO (NH2)2) to the soil.  Control ranged from 10 to 36 percent, depending on the dosage and method of application (disked or surface application).  Possible modes of action and the use of urea as a substance harmless to natural enemies in the integrated control of pestiferous soil arthropods are discussed.
