This key is from the study by Moore and Legner (1973) in which a detailed
description of each genus and an illustration of a member of each genus are
given. The name Charhyphus Sharp in place of Trigites Handlirsch is used here following Herman (1972a). Herman pointed out that the
members of the genus had some characters in common with the genotype of Phloeocharis
and consequently removed the genus to Phloeocharinae. For purposes of identification, we are retaining the genus in Piestinae where it goes
