White Admiral, Limenitis arthemis
<LEP120>
Occurring in southern Canada and the northeastern United States, it is
also known as the Banded Purple. However,
its color is not really purple, but its black is rich and deep. Beyond the milk-white bands lie rows of
bright blue crescents, the innermost of these on the hindwings being capped
with russet. Birch is the preferred
host plant. |
