  1             There are about 14 species in 6 genera in 6 genera that
  have been identified north of Mexico. 
  They have slender, laterally compressed bodies, an elongated
  pronotum.  Most species black, and
  some hve light colored markings.  The
  antennae are clubbed.  They are
  widespread in North America.  They
  occur on grasses and shrubs.  The
  larvae bore into stems and some are serious pests, such as the wheat stem
