| Pearl Crescent,  Phyciodes tharos 
  <LEP97>       
  A familiar butterfly, known for its habit of flying out at other
  insects.  It frequently visits mud and
  flowers.  Here it is shown taking
  nectar from showy daisy.  The amount
  of blackish marking varies with sex and season, but the open orange middles
  of the wings typify most Pearl Crescents. 
  Frequently seen in sunny, flowery places during summer.   |
