| Crimson-banded Black (LEP149)        It
may be found in South Texas, but is more rare than the Fatima.  Its simple, striking pattern is
  beautiful.  The velvety black wings
have no markings other than the wavy, bright crimson band, and thin white
crescents enhancing the scalloped edge of the hindwings.  It is shown here nectaring on beggar=s
tick, favored by many southern butterflies.   |
