| Compton Tortoiseshell,  Nymphalis vau-album  <LEP125>       
  The name “tortoishell” comes from the blending of orange, tawny and
  black above.  There is one white spot
  on each wing, near the upper, outer edge. 
  The Compton lives in cooler woodlands, where it is camouflaged against
  tree trunks.  Predators are startled
  when it flies because of its bright colors.   |
