I am broadly interested in the evolutionary
interactions between physiology and behavior, including topics traditionally
contained in the field of physiological ecology and behavioral ecology. I
focus on the factors that influence energy expenditure and behavioral traits
like activity, exploration, aggressiveness, etc. My research can be grouped
along 3 themes: 1.Eco-physiology of animal
“personality”, 2.Behavioral
and physiological adaptations to pulsed resources, 3.Influence of climate on
physiology and behavior. I combine field and laboratory
studies because the mix between the ecological reality of field studies and
the precision attained in the lab provides a better understanding of the
causes and consequences of variation in energy expenditure. From time to
time, I also gather data from the literature and use the comparative
approach to test my hypotheses. I recently joined the lab of Ted Garland,
where I learn to use experimental
approaches in evolutionary
physiology. |
