All stages of insects having complete metamorphosis are shown in the common mealworm, Tribolium confusum du Val.  Eggs, larvae, pupae and adult beetles may be found in the dry medium, consisting of oat meal.  Both larvae and adults feed on this grain.  In nature these insects are common in flour, corn meal, dog food, cereals, dried fruits and other similar products.
