Outreach Experience


  2. •Riverside First Annual Insect Fair. April 18th, 2015: I served as one of the three head organizers. This event was a collaboration between the UC Riverside Entomology graduate students, undergraduates and The Riverside Metropolitan Museum. The purpose of the fair was to enhance science awareness in our community through the world of insects by giving the public an opportunity to interact with faculty and student research scientists from UCR Entomology as well as local entomological related companies. This event also provided the chance for our students to practice skills necessary for disseminating knowledge to the public.


  1. •Insect Activity Book: In collaboration with several other graduate students, I contributed to the creation of an insect activity and coloring book for elementary and middle school students.  Topics include: insect anatomy and development; insects of agricultural, medical and veterinary importance; and other insect life history topics.


  3. •K-12 outreach: UC Riverside Entomology graduate students participate in various off-campus and on-campus outreach events throughout the year. We provide presentations on what it means to be an entomologist, why insects are important, and why science and an education are important. Students are also given the opportunity to interact with live insects. I am very involved in our outreach program. (Fall 2011-current)
