In mid-winter in northern Alaska, the moon will rise over the Arctic Ocean even on days when the sun remains below the southern horizon. I took this photograph in February. The long exposure and near-horizon 'shimmer' (atmospheric distortions) created some unsharpness, but the effect is interesting (I think).
