Showy penstemon (Penstemon spectabilis) is a large, colorful perennial native to southern California and Baja California.   Its big tubular flowers are favored by bees and hummingbirds, and often grow in impressive clusters.   These were photographed in the San Jacinto Mountains and the Box Springs Mountains in Riverside County, California.
