The good rains in the late winter and spring of 2005 brought a profusion of wildflowers to much of California.   In the eastern Sierra Nevada, the various species of paintbrush were abundant along streams and in meadows; these pictures were taken along upper Rock Creek.   I used a very long lens to isolate the blossoms against a softly blurred background.
