Good spring rains will bring out a profusion of wildflowers in southern California, including this spectacular species: bush mimulus (monkeyflower; Mimulus cardinalis).   Much favored by hummingbirds, they put out a profusion of red or orange flowers.   These were growing in some granite outcroppings at the Motte Rimrock Reserve near Riverside.
