Scarlet gilia        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Scarlet gilia is an attractive and much-loved plant in much of the mountainous regions of North America.   It has numerous small, tubular flowers that are a favorite of hummingbirds.   The flowers are usually bright red, but also occur in various shades of pink.   These were growing along the Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park in California.
