Zebras occur in several species and this is my favorite. The Grevy's is the largest of the zebras and carries the most elaborate pattern: a network of fine stripes with a clear whitish belly, instead of the normal zebra pattern of heavy stripes . Grevy's is an arid-country species that is experiencing a serious population decline. They used to be fairly common in northern Kenya but are now quite scarce. These are captives, and I decided to focus on their interesting patterns instead of attempting to get a good image of the whole animal. |
