'Blue jeans' frog        Images © Mark A. Chappell

This 'poison dart' frog (Dendrobates pumilio) is often called the 'blue jeans frog' in Costa Rica, where I took this picture at the La Selva Biological Station. It is one of a large and colorful family (Dendrobates; Phyllobates) of mainly very small forest-dwelling frogs that are well known for their highly toxic skin secretions.
