Canyon treefrog        Images © Mark A. Chappell

These little frogs, as their name implies, live in rocky canyons in the American southwest, often in dry desert areas as long as there is fairly reliable acces to water.  These were photographed in Deep Canyon, near Palm Desert, California, or in a very exclusive nearby community, where a homeowner wanted us to get the noisy frogs out of their elaborate pool and spa (which was near-perfect habitat for these frogs, with rock walls, sprays, and drips).
