Frosty meadows, eastern Sierra        Images © Mark A. Chappell

These frosty meadows were high in the Bishop Creek drainage in the eastern Sierra Nevada (Inyo County, California).   I photographed them during an early October trip searching for aspen groves in autumn colors.   Many of the images were made with wideangle lenses, often with graduated neutral-density filters to reduce the contrast between sun and shade.
