The Glass Mountains are a dry volcanic range at the north end of the Owens Valley - Long Vally complex.   They can form a dramatic skyline if conditions are right for a sunset, as here, taken on a summer evening from near Convict Creek in Mono County, California.   The image below at right was taken after the sun had set, and I was surprised by the intensity of color that remained in the sky.
