Saffron-crowned tanager        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Most of these saffron-crowned tanagers were coming to a small fruiting tree in San Pedro, at about 1500 m altitude on the Manu Road in southeastern Peru; others (more bluish) were in the Western Andes above Cali, Colombia.   Other species feeding on fruits included a number of other tanagers (palm, silver-beaked, orange-eared, golden, golden-eared, golden-naped, spotted, beryl-spangled, bay-headed, blue-necked, paradise, and common bush-tanager), and in addition to the tanagers, versicolored barbets, blue-naped chlorophonias and orange-bellied euphonias.
