Townsend's warbler        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Townsend's warbler is a colorful breeder in the Pacific Northwest, and a fairly common winter resident in coastal California. Although the females are less colorful than the males, they are lovely little birds with a quiet charm. I photographed these as they fed on the lagoon beach at the mouth of the Big Sur River, in Andrew Molera State Park.
