Summer tanager

I managed to get a few pictures of these shy male summer tanager when they landed near a feeding station (left) and on their streamside territories (center, right, and below).  Summer tanagers are summer breeders at Big Morongo Reserve in southeastern California (and in much of the western US as well).   The upper right image was taken in Manhattan, Kansas; for unknown reasons this bird has a much yellower bill than the ones from California.
