Seaside sparrow        Images © Mark A. Chappell

I'd like to have a better picture of the seaside sparrow, a species that lives in grassy (or sedgy) salt marshes along the eastern and Gulf coasts of the US.   However, the many birds we saw (near Crystal River, Florida) were very shy and I had a chance for only one shot: this one.   Despite the many grass stems blocking the view, the image does convey something of the skulking behavior of the bird.
