Sagebrush sparrow        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The former 'sage sparrow' has been split into two separate species, the coastal Bell's sparrow and the interior sagebrush sparrow shown here.   Sagebrush sparrows are paler than the Bell's sparrow, and are inhabitants of the inland plains of the western US.   This bird was photographed near Mono Lake in eastern California.
