Lazuli bunting (males)

These lovely male lazuli buntings were singing their territorial songs in scrubby spring vegetation in the Box Springs Mountains, near Riverside, California. They were difficult to photograph because they were wary and tended to remain in fairly thick cover, but eventually patience paid off.
