Indigo buntings are common summer breeders in much of eastern North America.   They are found in forests and woodlands, and seem to do well in many habitats.   This second-year male (indicated by the rusty tone on the primaries) was singing in early July in riparian forest a bit north of Manhattan, Kansas.
