Whitethroat        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Whitethroats are medium-sized warblers with loud songs.   They are common in Europe during the spring and summer (they head to Africa for the winter), but are often difficult to get a good look at.   These pictures are an example of that problem: the bird usually refused to perch in the open, so most of the images were shot through grass stems that lend a kind of 'hazy' feel to the pictures.  This bird was carrying food to a nest near Bialowieza, Poland.
