Brown thornbill        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Thornbills are a group of small brownish Australian 'bush birds'.   Various species inhabit most of the continent, in habitats ranging from very dry deserts to tropical rainforest.   This is the brown thornbill, a common bird of forest and scrub in eastern Australia.   I took the photos in Wombarra, on the coast of New South Wales near Wollongong.
