The 'black-crested' version of the tufted titmouse is endemic to southern Texas.   Over the years there has been some debate among ornithologists as to whether it deserves status as a separate species.   These birds were photographed in the lower Rio Grande Valley; the one below was coming to a feeder and has a sunflower seed it's working on.
