The Australian butcherbirds are large passerines with predatory habits -- they frequently take small vertebrates, including nestling songbirds.   Nevertheless, they are very popular among nature lovers for their confiding, friendly dispositions and beautiful songs.   These were in the campground at Twelve Mile Yards National Park in the Northern Territory, and in far-north Queensland.
